Convenience

Does the tracker require adding something to your racket, remembering to log manually, or setting up equipment before every session? Manual logging asks more of the player in the moment; sensor-based options ask more once, at setup.

Device compatibility

A racket sensor needs a compatible phone (Padelplay’s app requires iOS 14.2 or later or Android 8.0 or later) and a mount on the handle — its maker says the setup fits around 85% of padel racket models. This is what coaches tend to care about most and marketing pages talk about least. When a tracker reports a shot count or trend, does it show how many samples that number is based on, or just a chart? What it does well: reports shot counts and trends alongside the sample size and coverage behind each one, so a coach can see when a metric is thin rather than settled. It is an Apple Watch app — the only hardware is the watch the player already wears — and it counts shots at the wrist rather than the racket; the reasoning behind that choice is worth reading if you’re deciding between wrist and racket placement.
